That’s A NO (T-A-N!) Volume 15: This is neither the beach nor the bedroom, so get that bandeau under control!
In the summer months we all like to ditch the layers and keep our outfits minimal, sticking with breezy fabrics, shorts and dresses. This year especially we have seen the infamous wardrobe staple called the bandeau all over fashion blogs and on the streets. I personally love the idea of layering in the summer. With a nice chiffon top and a bandeau underneath, it is the perfect way to show off skin and keep your body cool all at the same time. What I don’t like as much is the girls that I have seen lately who wear bandeaus as tops by themselves.
While it may seem like a good idea for the summer, the bandeau should never be worn as a top because, let’s face it, it’s not, even if you have a great body. The bandeau is styled almost exactly like a swimsuit top, so wearing it solo just looks like you should be lounging on the beach, not going out to the grocery store. While we fashion folks like to say, “Less is more,” I’m going to have to put that practice in reverse on this one, as with that much skin showing your outfit becomes borderline trashy. Now, if you want to wear it on the beach or lounging around your porch, sure, go ahead. But once you leave the front door, put on a real top. With the chiffon tops that most people wear over bandeaus, you can still have skin showing if that’s what you are after. Not to mention you will still be able to feel the breeze if you are trying to avoid the heat. For now, keep bandeaus a classy trend, not a far-out fad. That’s a- NO! T-A-N!! T-A-N!!!
